How to make an offer on a house?
My husband and I are first time home buyers, and we are not going through a realtor. We were wondering how in the world to make an offer on a house. To clarify, we know we just call, but we are unsure of how much to offer. Is there a website or book that could help us out with this? There are some things wrong with the house, but nothing that can’t be fixed, but we don’t want to pay the asking price if we are going to have to put some work into it. Any suggestions?
First of all, why not use a Realtor? They are experts at the entire process. As the buyer, a Realtor costs you nothing (the seller pays the commission) and they know how to handle all of the details of negotiating the deal, working with lenders, working with the escrow company or attorney who closes the deal and can suggest good home inspectors. A Realtor can assist in scheduling and ensuring that the necessary repairs are completed and discounted off of the purchase price. A good Realtor is also hooked into good lenders who can put you into the proper loan program that works for you and your needs.
Get a good local Realtor, as a first time home buyer, it’s a no brain-er!
