Do american passport cards have all the persons information on the card itself?
I applied for a american passport card and i searched up pictures of the card and all it shows is a blank card. I want to know if all the information is on the card itself, or is the information accessed through a computer by the custom and not seen on the card?
I have a US Passport Card issued to me by the US Dept. of State. The information that it has printed on it is the following:
-Nationality
-Passport Card No.
-Surname (Last Name)
-Given Names (First & Middle Names)
-Sex (M/F)
-Date of Birth
-Place of Birth
-Issued Date
-Expired Date
The cost for the Passport Card is $45 or $20 if you have a valid passport book. If this is is your first time applying for a passport or if you do not have a valid passport you would need to fill out form DS 11, and if you do have a valid passport you would fill out form DS 82.
Keep in mind this is only for crossing land and sea borders only.
At the border you would take your card out of the protective sleeve (provided) and it would transmit a signal with only a number. It will send that number to a secure database with DHS. That number is the only thing transmited by the chip in the passport card. When not using the card you can keep the card in the protective sleeve, which prevents transmition of the number.
